Living in Torrevieja centre
Central Torrevieja is a working Spanish town first and a resort second. Shops, bars, the health centres and the bus station are all walkable, and the town stays open in January, which the purely holiday urbanisations further south do not. Playa del Cura and Playa de los Locos are the two main town beaches; the seafront promenade runs between them and on to the marina. Parking is the recurring headache, so a garage space adds real value here.
Buying in Torrevieja centre
Stock is mostly apartments in 1970s–2000s blocks: one and two bedrooms, often with a lift, sometimes with a communal pool on newer blocks. idealista put the Centro district at about €2,177/m² in July 2026, the cheapest in the municipality, against roughly €2,999/m² around Playa de los Locos. Check the community (comunidad) fees, whether the building has passed its inspection (ITE) and whether any derrama (special levy) for a new lift or façade repair is approved or pending — the seller should disclose it, but ask in writing.

Renting in Torrevieja centre
This is the easiest part of Torrevieja to rent long term without a car. Typical long lets are unfurnished or lightly furnished one- and two-bed flats; idealista’s city-wide average sat around €12.4/m² a month in mid-2026. Many owners switch to winter lets from October to May, so September is when choice is widest.
